Translation Fridays #2

Experimenting with more vocabulary

Welcome, aspiring polyglot! This is the second installment of translation Fridays and if you missed the first, be sure to go back and check it out. While this series is going to continue to be in French, there is something special in store for the Spanish learners of the community coming next week. That said, as the translation and the original English are both present, take some time to see if you can recognize anything.

If you are learning French try to see if you can spot any mistakes or things you would translate in a different way. There are many ways to say the same thing and it would behoove you to question every translation you see, including my own. These are draft translations and will likely change in the future as it is, so if you see something you think is off, share it in the comments!

The late nights brought more pain than most can imagine, but she knew. In fact, he had never once spoken with someone who understood it quite as well as she did. That made the fact that they no longer spoke hurt all the more. One person in this world knew how he felt. One person in this world could know how he felt. At times, the shared late nights made it seem as though they were one. Space and time could separate their bodies, but their souls were perpetually intertwined. 

Les longues nuits apportées encore plus de douleur, autant que la plupart de la population n'arriverait à comprendre. Elle, par contre, le connait bien. En fait, il n’a jamais parlé avec quelqu’un qui le comprenait mieux qu’elle. Ceci rend le fait qu’ils ne parlent plus encore plus douloureux. Une personne dans ce monde qui comprend comment il se sent. Parfois, les nuits longues partager entre eux deux lui fait penser qu’ils n'étaient qu’une âme divisée en deux corps. L’espace et le temps pourraient séparer leurs corps, mais leurs âmes s'étaient entremêlées.

Conclusion

Learning a language is a difficult endeavor, but by learning how to translate you will be learning how to think in the language you are learning. This ability will serve you long after you begin having fluid conversations. It really is that simple, but do not mistake simplicity for ease. The process is going to be difficult, but you can do difficult things and be great. So do difficult things with me and let’s become great!
